Airtel connects Malawi parliament

28 Feb 2011 07:402 commentsBizLike
Airtel Malawi has given the Malawi National Assembly's 193 legislators internet dongles worth a sum of MK965,000. National Assembly speaker Henry Chimunthu Banda announced in the national assembly on Thursday, 24 February 2011, that the mobile company has donated the gadgets which will help them be efficient.
"The dongles will enable members to access internet and become even more useful to their constituents," he said.
In an interview with Bizcommunity after the speaker's announcement, Airtel PR manager Edith Tsirizani said they saw the need after learning that the National Assembly has bought laptop computers for all the legislators earlier this year.

"We want them to be able to access internet at all times," she said.

And what will Airtel-
While it is certainly useful for members of government to be efficiently connected to the internet, you have to wonder how this gift will endebt and/or endear members of the government to the Airtel brand.

It will be interesting to see how future interactions pan out. Posted on 2 Mar 2011 13:02
