NEWSWATCH: First Nando's, now AfriForum... which claims, according to Times Live, that SABC3 refuses to screen a video that is critical of the ANC.

  • Times Live: SABC won't air video criticising ANC: AfriForum... Apparently AfriForum, via its spokesman Ernst Roets, says SABC3 has "rejected a video" that the group "wanted to air on the channel as a paid advertisement."

    It's alleged that the broadcaster first agreed to screen the clip, and then changed its mind - Roets claims the SABC said it is not their policy to flight adverts that criticise political parties.

    Some observers might say, "Well, not the ANC, anyway."

    SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago is quoted as saying that AfriForum doesn't "even know how the SABC works".

    He may be correct, but again, those same observers (and some if not many SABC viewers) might ask: What with financial troubles, management troubles, repeats of old material, programmes being flighted out of sequence or repeated and all the rest of it, does anyone at the national broadcaster itself "even know how the SABC works".
