ASA finds Twinsaver ad tongue-in-cheek
The Advertising Standards Authority(ASA) of South Africa recently ruled that the TBWA\Hunt\Lascaris Nampak Twinsaver print ad that was run in Finesse magazine in June 2006 may continue to use "As Pretoria dit kan doen, kan ons ook" in relation to its recent name change, as it is a humorous reference to a high profile public debate. "Unlike in the complaints against the City of Tshwane, where Tshwane was referred to as 'Africa's leading capital', the Twinsaver ad has no factual claims," explains Gail Schimmel, head: legal and regulatory affairs at the ASA.
