Opera at the Met with Cinema Nouveau

Cinema Nouveau brings opera from the New York Metropolitan Opera House (Met) to the big screen in November 2009 until May 2010, with its third season of filmed stage productions. Highlights include Puccini's Tosca and Turandot, Verdi's Aïda (in which internationally acclaimed SA tenor Johan Botha features as Radamès) and Bizet's Carmen. In addition, Verdi's Simon Boccanegra features a rare appearance by Plácido Domingo, one of the world's great tenors. “If the popularity of the preceding seasons is any indication, then we are delighted that audiences have embraced the genre and we will continue to bring operas to screens around the country,” comments Dr Raksha Singh, national marketing manager for Cinema Nouveau.
