Whatever happened to investigative journalism?
I never watch 3rd Degree on etv any more as Debora Patta's interviewing style is too much for me. Last night I thought I'd give it a whirl as I wanted to see J. Arthur Brown worm his way out of a corner, as Ms Patta had promised in the lead-up to the interview. Alas, it was yet another rant by her that gave him very little time to say anything, let alone "worm". I always thought one of the golden rules of interviewing is to ask a question and keep quiet. Very few people can handle silence and invariably end up saying something they had no intention of revealing. Her "interview" left me speechless. If only I can say the same of her.

Patta Spatta-
I was left gasping for breath during Debora Patta's so-called grilling of Fidentia's J Arthur W Brown. In the build-up she kept urging viewersw to watch him try worm his way out of the allegations etc. She shrieked, squealed and frothed her way through the most hysterical (literally)and unprofessional "interview" I have ever seen. And when she yelled at him that the interview was "useless and pointless!" I had to pick myself up off the floor. Yes, it was, but the fault for that lay entirely at her egotistical door. She was left looking the fool, not her calm, somewhat amused target. What a wasted opportunity. Posted on 20 Mar 2007 16:44
TOO SPONTANEOUS AND INSTICTIVE AND PERSONAL-
DEBRA PATTA WAS TRAINED BY A TALK SHOW RADIO STATION AND SHE WAS NOT TRAINED IN MEDIA ETHICS AND CODES BUT IN THE POLICIES OF THAT TALK STATION TO WHICH IT IS OF COURSE TO BE SUPERIOR TO THE GUEST TO ACHIEVE GOALS IN TERMS OF THAT STATION EXPECTATIONS.

SENSATIONALISM IS ALSO VERY MUCH AT ISSUE HERE TO SERVE PEOPLE`S OPINIONS.wHEN CONRAD BLANK{BRITISH MEDIATYCOON}UTTERED THAT OUR CURRENT BUNCH OF JOURNALISTS IS LAZY,IGNORANT,OPINIONATED AND LACK ADEQUATE SUPERVISION HE INCLUDED PEOPLE ;LIKE HER IN THAT CATEGORY.SHE`S ALSO BLACKLISTING THOSE SHE DOESN`T LIKE THEIR FACES OR VIEWS. wolves in sheep's clothing-
Wolves in sheep’s clothing

I want to commend Deborah on her outstanding straight forward confrontational methods toward issues that are destroying the church as a whole. From a Christian perspective, when Jesus addressed the Pharisees and their manipulating ways toward their unsuspecting congregations, he was straight forward with them. He addressed them as brewed of vipers. The very people that were supposed to help and display ethical, trustworthy, dependable values were the very people who were wolves in sheep’s clothing.

I could not understand why the woman at the church was defending her minister in such a radical manner. I have noticed that some people have more love for their ministers than for truth. This reminds me of the Israelites nation during the Exodus, did you know that those people perished because they lack knowledge of the truth. It seems as if history is repeating itself. When people begin to understand that the church is not about the minister and it is about understanding the word of God, then maybe there will be a sifting of Self Appointed Pastors, who come to the ministry to make money.

I believe very strongly that one of the reasons for the "so called men of God" to behave this unprincipled manner is because they do not understand the ministry. What is the criterion of being a minister? Most people wake up one morning and say the lord has spoken to me, "therefore I have been called", which is very shady. It might be that God did not call them but rather they called themselves. I think that the government or a well recognised church governing body should regulate and define what and who a minister is. In some churches the criteria to be a minister is a prophecy or a dream, and others a hard earned degree in ministerial studies which is over a period of 4 years. Maybe if Pastors sacrificed and went to the school of prophets they will know how much they have put in order to attaining a ministerial qualification, then maybe the will take the ministry more seriously and not abuse their position.

It is when outsider reveal truths about what is happening on the inside of the Church.

Wolves in Sheep clothes-
Wow! What's happening there in South Africa with the pastors? I had so many calls about the 3rd Degree program that I am curious to view that article.

Can I find that article on the web? and where? Good Patta!

Wolves in Sheep Clothing-
I cannot agree with the Theological student in his assessment of the so-called pastors within the South African church. Ministering within a church means that we work with people and their problems. The government requires people to have graduated medical school before they can become doctors or social workers to be trained at a recognized institution because they work with people. Yet, in ministry, a man can simply claim that he has been called by God and begin to work with people. The results are catastrophic. I personally spent close to 8 years and had acquired two masters degrees for ministry and I still feel unprepared for the task.

Anyone who feels that he or she is called to the ministry must be prepared to discipline him/herself to a number of years of formal training. After all, other professions demand it.

Patta is bad excuse for journalist-
Ever heard of a good journalist asking someone 'how do you feel?' It would be a very good question if I have just won a grammy award or something, but what does she expect the answer to be?
What facts are we, the discernng viewer, to gather from the answer? All we want is the facts, not some sloppy showcasing and high frequency shouting like some 'straatvrou!' No wonder the program is called 3rd degree, because it lacks 1st degree norms...
Patta fails to see that all those people who lost money lost it because of GREED. Patta is trying to find the money from the poor woman, because her bad journalism cannot find the actual mastermind. Ever heard of Lee-anne Manas? Now that's a journalist! Posted on 21 Aug 2007 20:11

Pitter Patta-
I agree completely with the comments already posted. I have on 3 occasions e-mailed 3rd degree, without so much as a reply in response to an issue I raised. I also find her far too personal and although views are not necessarily those of the station or anyone associated with e-tv, she could have fooled me. In addition to this my vehicle was stolen and foul play was obviously the case at a Shell service station; still no reply. I take it this piece was not sensational enough. Typical. SA should focus-
Surely the unshelling of hidden truth (often which, an atrocity) is far better than to have no idea of the extent of the nature and level of crime or the corruption at work, corroding our country?

An ironic time-waster is that Deborah Patta is criticized more than she is applauded. Yet hundreds of hidden cases have been exposed by the 3rd degree team, with the opportunity for the public to support the injustice, in order to bring about measurable change.

I think that far greater than interviewing style to critique, is the state of our country - and in particular of our government who is in denial of the crime crisis we are in. Mbeki on BBC "there is no proof .. SA has a crime problem, because it is not true". That is as true a statement "HIV does not cause AIDS", which led to ARV's being withheld for a time far greater than they needed be ie. cruel prolonging of morbidity + mortality rates, extended infliction on family + friends, and ecomonic (workforce) stagnation.

Why dont we, as SA citizens, do something more constructive with our time, and agree more in principle with what is trying to be achieved, instead of so adamently arguing against its medium.

It's distasteful-
I think her style is completely distastefull. She has more than enough eveidence and question marks in the right places, so I see no need in her barbaric interviewing style. She needs to deal with her interviews giving more respect, mabye that'll add more integrity to her work cause she's turning a raging lunatic....and it doesnt look good. She needs to get some class!!! ACTING NDPP NOT CONVINCING-
The answers of the acting national director of public prosecutions on 3rd degree were not convincing at all.He does not seem to know what he is doing. The advocate was surely in the management meeting that took a decision to issue warrants to the top cop,why now does he want to satisfy himself. Is there any new evidence submitted? He could have told whoever wanted him to re-look at the warrants, that he was part of the decision making, as he is part of the management. How can he be unable to to answer the cross examination by the journalist. He does not seem to have the qualities of a lawyer. His anwers were really not convincing. Difficult to get Drivers' License in South Africa-
I have been put on waiting list since July this year for a Drivers license and I keep on calling their call centre every week which they all tell me that their system is down or too slow; they instead take my details manually which I believe forms part of that day's thrash. I am still waiting even today. I don’t want to redo my driver’s learners as it expires next year (2008). SA when are we going to start getting proper service delivered on time? Now I understand why people are arrested daily for Driving with no license. Some of us can’t get Jobs because of this license issues, some can’t buy cars. SA please help us get the service we deserve. Thank you in advance. Posted on 27 Nov 2007 11:26

I feel for you. but if you are in KZN you can go to Rossburgh testing Ground, Pinetown or Winklespruit. it normally takes up to 3 months max for booking of your test. if your learners is going to experire they give u a special booking free of charge.however you have to go there personally and speak to the officer in charge of bookings.

They zap and fail you purposely...
They're not even graces and I'm not saying they should be but atleast reconsider before just failing the person.

They are all messed up and then they say we are 'UBUNTU'...

I await seven months to get an appointment and some just plain and simply tell you they don't do people from Cape Town in Grabouw, Wellington, Malmesbury, or where ever you must be in their region but in your own region you get the treatment like a dog...

My kids got their learners in 2007. We have been on the waiting list since then for dates for the license, and their learners are now expired. We have to now wait to get a booking for the learners all over again. This service is so pathetic that it makes me sick. You have to call back every hour to be told that we have no dates available, please call back. When are they going to have dates and when will we get a booking. Has anyone been fortunate enough that maybe can share their secret with us? I am at wits end with this system, surely they can see that it’s not working and this is frustrating South Africans. Or is it that the governments don’t care. HELP or Maybe Debra Patter need to gets involved to get some answers. Posted on 11 Apr 2008 12:15

are you nuts, this presenter or journalist whatever you want to call her, has allowed her 3rd degree show to go to her head. she handles her interviews immaturely, she is out to "make a point" and all it comes down to is that she wants to be known as a hell of a journalist that leaves no stone unturned but unfortunately for her, she has over done it. With fame gone to her head that is all she sees.

She is immature, aggressive, argumentive, feeble and does not have the X factor, most of all it is not the topic that she truelly cares about all she is interested in is to get the ratings.......well Debra you get no rating from me. I use to always watch your shows infact i use to have stand up fights with my family because your show use slot into other shows they wanted to watch. cellphones are not the problem. Discipline is!!! Do people not get it??? What if something happened to your son at school where he is too afraid to tell someone at school? What do you expect him to do? I'd prefer my kids to call me immediately. As for the education department, they are useless in any case! Posted on 7 May 2008 15:16
What is going on with our schools?-
I insist that my children take their cellphones to school...let the Headmaster phone me and complain!!! The school refuses to phone parents when the kids are sick...so what are they supposed to do then???? About 4 months ago my 10 year old son and three of his friends were sent to the office for TEASING each other during break. All four of them were given a spanking with a cricket bat by the school's SECRETARY....who does she think she is???? The school has taken no disciplinary action against her, the SAPS has not really investigated the criminal charges we laid against her and the Northern Cape MEC of Education has also not responded to letters sent to their offices. Our kids are left in the school's care from 07h30 till 13h15.In Gr4 they are already learning about children's rights ect....where has that right to safety and security gone????They are not even safe at school anymore!!!! 3rd Rate and dropping-
I have just witnessed blatant discrimination during a program about discrimination.

I do not condone or agree with the Reitz video, but I can understand the frustration and the juvenile attempt to express themselves.

Nobody has told you to share your show with another presenter or that you had to include 10 Dog Food commercials per show.

You have no excuse for your behaviour. What a pathetic and disgusting excuse for a human/journalist you have become. Posted on 4 Mar 2008 20:58

Horrendous "investigative journalism"-
I agree, Ms Patta has become an embarrasment to South africa's journalist community, what a shame to rape an opportunity like this, only to promote herself.

The credible speaker form the FF+ was continuously attacked with Ms Patta's personal little judgement of "You Failed!" over and over; Could she not realise that this man saw her coming and was not going to step into her little spider trap? Clearly she was the one who failed in her futile attempt. I am not even discussing the other chap, he was just not in the picture..... Posted on 5 Mar 2008 14:59

I never use to miss 3rd degree, because Pratt was direct and to the point when interviewing! But something's gone wrong? Her style of interviewing has become so damn irrrrrritating! she doesn't know when to SHUT UP. How the heck does one find out the true nature or motives of the people she interviews when she continuously interrups them and then ..... What a disgrace she was last night again! She needs to be "bliksemed" by somebody but the guy last night was unfortunately to decent. She is a typical example of a woman who can not handle a "senior" position, and this comes from a "lady"! Get rid of the rubbish. Posted on 5 Mar 2008 16:38
Send Debra Patta packing!-
Having watched Debra Patta’s awful interview with Cornelius from the FF+ and David from SASCO – I don’t think Ill be watching 3rd Degree again!

She was obviously biased towards the SASCO guy – who could hardly string a sentence together – and spoke about ‘jumping to another planet’.
What a fool!

The only person who made any sense was Cornelius – he strongly condemned the racist video, but he was not allowed to speak after that!

Debra Patta continuously interrupted him when he was making a valid point.

Her interviewing style is juvenile in the extreme and highly irritating, where one reaches for the remote to change the channel.

There are a few good TV/Radio journalists in this country, but Debra Patta is certainly not one of them.

She’s hopeless! – I hope Etv get rid of her soon. Posted on 6 Mar 2008 13:45

Rubbish journalism-
This must be the worst possible piece of “investigative journalism” the world has ever experienced.

I am talking about Debra Patta’s adolescent behaviour on tonight’s programme. Why did she not just have a one-to-one interview with the person from SASCO?

This one-sided “discussion” was laughable and an insult to the viewer’s intelligence. Obvious she is desperate to appeal to the less informed to win popular numbers, but she must realize that tonight she made a complete fool of herself!

Never once was the content, or as she rightly pointed out in the beginning, the “context” of the video, discussed. Yet she allows ample time for imbecile comments such as “Racists are crazy and must go to another planet” from this person who was not able to make one single worthy contribution of his own, this SASCO Representative.

No depth and an opportunity wasted, but this has become the trademark of the over-zealous Ms Patta, desperately trying to impress….

Why not allow the coherent and objective input from the FF (on this occasion?) He made excellent points about the blacks-only universities, but of course, this point clashed with your preconceived idea as to how this programme should turn out, so of course, this had to be cut short.

Honestly, Ms Patta' s behaviour was a disgrace to black and white intelligence, especially a slap in the face of all journalists. The primary reason being that SHE decides in advance, how this little discussion should go, ….how quaint…

Congratulations to the FF speaker who is obviously an extremely well informed and disciplined speaker; his manner reflects an excellent upbringing and his self-control was remarkable, especially under the trying circumstances and mad onslaught from this woman.

Yes, the video was in bad taste, but it was so absolutely clear that these guys were misguided in their effort to copy a “Fear Factor” and slap-stick style comedy to bring their point across. Obviously, it was clear as daylight that the liquid added to the food mixture came from a bottle! But nothing about this Ms Patta?

This type of misguided student behaviour clearly does not compare with black youth killing the elderly white by burning them with hot plastic, raping or torturing them!

No Ms Patta, because it was not in alignment with YOUR “investigative journalism” objective…..mass hysteria is what you are after…

I have always been a very keen 3rd degree viewer, but this woman needs to review her style and objectivity as a matter of urgency. Posted on 6 Mar 2008 19:26

I watched 3rd Degree for the first time on tuesday keen to listen to what our northern neighbour's presidential hopeful S. Makoni had to say. Several times during the interview he told her to stop putting words into his mouth as she was very pushy and insistant on having him agree with her point of view. Furthermore if she didn't hear what she wanted to hear she interrupted him. Needless to say i got nothing out of the interview... I hope journalism schools use her as an example of how not to conduct an interview. Posted on 13 Mar 2008 13:41

Child Maintenance-
Hi Debra,

I would love you to have a discussion on child maintenance

I took my ex to the court last year the 20th of July for maintenance for my two sons age 18 & 15, we appeared in court twice – 13th of September and the 08th of October 2007, the matter was resolved that my ex must pay R400 per child, R600 school fees for my 18 year old and buy Christmas clothes for R2000 each. This was suppose to be effective from end of November 2007

My ex haven’t paid in a cent up until now, I went back to court on the 09th of January 2008 and I was given a date to appear in court on the 25th of January in order for the court to Garnish my ex, a garnishee order was issued, and still I haven’t received a cent for my two boys.

I went back to court and asked them how long does it take for a garnishee to be issued, and the court clerk told me that the garnishee was issued I must just wait for payment, but still no payment, I took it upon myself to phone my ex’s employee to find out if a garnishee order was delivered for my ex, the refuse to give me any information and instead they ask me for my number and said they’ll get back to. To my surprise 7min later my ex called me on the same number I gave his emlpoyee, he didn't have my work number, so in this case what do i do if an employee backs up an employer that doesn't pay maintenance. I'm at a dead end

So here I am with two teenagers – 18 year old is in matric and 15 year old in Grade 9 with no financial help from their father what so ever and even the court is failing me, I don’t have money for an attorney- I need help and advise

I would like to stay anonymous

Arrogant Patta.-
What I cannot understand,is how Patta is allowed to stand as Judge and Jury over others.
How she is allowed to get away with her arrogant, aggresive, derogatory, dogmatic, bombastic on sided attitude is beyond me.
Surely she should be ''neutral'' and ''uninfluential'',and let the viewers decide for themselves on the merits of the issues at hand.
Yet,she is allowed to push her attitude and preconceived ideas on us.
Maybe Patta should take note on the way in which ''Dr.Phil'' conducts his interviews/discussions.
Rightly or wrongly,my suggestion to her,is to at least be respectful and give the ''benefit of the doubt'' to those she is so righteously interviewing(attacking). Posted on 7 May 2008 11:47

the Pastor Chris story-
as a christian, i was left with a lot of unanswered questios regarding the news sowetan revealed about Pastor Chrs and his christ embassy church.the fact that his so-called healing miracles are just an act; that he trained people before his meetings to pretend to be on wheel chairs.
i challenge you, Debra and your team, to investigate this guy and his church; i need the truth! so, your investigative journalism is needed. Posted on 20 Jun 2008 18:14

Killing spree (Krugersdorp)-
Thank you for the wonderful show,

Only God knows what was really going on in Mornee's mind. I thik parents and older siblings should be more aware of what is going on in the childrend's lives. There are a lot of things happening around us that enables kids to behave the way they do. Doing away with corporal punishment at school you might as well be saying go ahead and do whatever you like no one is going to touch you, saying young girls can have abortion without their parents knowing about it - you don't need your parents for advice. Everywhere I turn there's a box of condoms - go ahead and have sex as long as you protect yourself, what happend to sex before marriage is a sin. As far as the so called "sleep not" what kind of a name is that and tell me who would want to be in an animal trans, come on. The way they look they has satan written all over them. I'm not saying they made Mornee do what he did, I'm simply saying they played a role in what he became. Posted on 27 Aug 2008 15:26

Please help?-
Hello

I hope you take my email seriously. I have just notice that an online company, known as Gumtree is displaying the most vile pornographic material I have ever had the displeasure of being exposed to (as witnessed under their dating heading). One of the postings, shows 2 men with their penis's stuck in that of a third man. Of course there are other disgusting postings on all 3 of these Gumtree sites, Johannesburg, Cape Town and Durban. I didn’t bother reviewing other branches of gumtree but I have taken the time to report what I did see. Someone has to stand up against despicable business people.

For God sake, children can freely look at Gumtree and I am fully aware that our child rape (between minors) has increased rapidly lately. When will this stop? The media keeps putting this kind of material out there, which leaves our kids in the most precarious of positions. I must call it like I see it, since the ANC has come into power the basic morals of this country have deteriorated drastically, while rape has shamelessly increased. Don’t take this comment personally, just do something positive about the filth that is thrust down our throats from all directions. Gumtree is the worst I have seen in a long time and I believe they should be held accountable, even going as far as having their sites shut down. Because they are so well-known, that should serve as an example to other sick individuals. The only way to kill the snake, is to chop his head off.

Footnote: I would not have even come across this vile material on the Gumtree online sites if I had not gone online to advertise my services. The joke is, my advert was rejected without explanation and I only provide simple Numerology Charts (which is similar to Astrology). It was at this point that I started checking out other postings to try and learn why my advert was rejected. After what I had to witness I am pleased my advert was rejected, I do not condone that filth on a public forum. Don’t take my word for it, type "Gumtree" on the google search engine, there is more than enough filth for you to view.

Speaking on behalf of all honourable South Africans

SAB Distribution violating Employees rights-
I suppose SAB has been known to be the best company to work for. What I don't understand is that they allow its Distributors to exploit people. The conditions that they are working under is not safe.Employees have been given new contracts which they are not saying anything about their rights.

I supposed they are expected to be guided by SAB Policies but they are only considered when it is suits them. Their salaries are debited without employees concern.Salary increase are decided between Union & management employees interests are not considered. The worse of them all is in Madadeni (Newcastle)

Deb Patta not profesional.-
I am a jounalist by trade and have done interviews internationally in a carreer of 47 years.

Her shows are one sided and subjective. I have investigated at least 2 of her shows where she has kept the other side of the story to herself and not giving anyone a chance to answer. IN one show with Eugene Terblanche she gave running commentary and showed 8 to 10 year old SABC news clips.

Doctors accused of racism had rooms for "dirty workers", be they white or black and nice rooms for clean clients, be they white or black. Black schoolteachers sat in the main waiting room and white mechanic sat in the back rooms. Did D Patta tell the public that you cannot let a dirty garden worker (black) or dirty mechanic (white) sit on velvet chairs and imported carpets in the main waiting room. They sat in the back waiting room where the couches are plastic and can be cleaned. Nothing racist in fact but after D PAtta interviewed very selective people who loved to get their faces on TV it was turned out into a racist horror story.

After Eugene Terblance was released out of prison, she had a show without interviewing anyone that shared his life in the last 6 years. She showed OLD AWB footage and him falling of his horse.l She did not show him being given a clapping ovation and song when he left prison - by black inmates. She did not show him talking to 600 blacks in a church in Bloemfontein and the whole congregation standing to cheer him. It did not suit her to tell or show the truth. It suited her to make and create sensation, no matter how much she lied in the process.

I am sorry but she misses the most important rule of journalism - OBJECTIVE REPORTING. She has major issues and uses the ANC controlled media to give her a platform that can showcase her issues in life.

She may be as entertaining as Judge Judy but that does not mean that anyone who wants an objective professional view of an issue must take her seriously for a second.

A pretty face, big mouth and the right political connections do not make a journalist. To be a good journalist takes maturity, knowledge of your trade, respect for everyone you interview even those who do not think like you do and above all, Objectivity.

Sorry Debs but you do not qualify. Posted on 10 Jun 2009 18:58

3rd Degree: Caster Semenya - 1 September 2009-
Dear 3Rd Degree
The programme on Caster Semenya was nothing more than bad journalism. Really bad journalism. We were all slightly wooed by the teary-eye review of Caster’s road to fame…and then the DNA hit the fan after the break when Debora returned to burn poor Chuene at the stake.
“Finely-honed investigative skills” were not the order of the day. Instead a feeble attempt at sensationalism transpired.
I highly advise Debora Patta to take up an internship at some local pony where her bad interviewing skills and facetious comments will surely come to fruition.
I’m really sorry I wasted my time watching the show tonight – one could only hope that Debora Patta would have injected some objectivity and a more interesting point of view, instead she herself jumped on the exploitation bandwagon. She exploited Caster – and Chuene – to produce a show.
I also hope Caster doesn’t take Debora Patta’s insolence to heart and adds her to her things-not-to-worry-about list.

CAN BLACKS BE RACIST-
My answer to that is yes. Not because I hate blacks or favour whites but black people always tend to trow the past in your face. "Because you did this then, we're can do this now", is the attitude some black people portray to others. Even to us coloureds. Posted on 2 Jun 2010 08:57

I feel the only thing that will still, make blacks to come out as racists, its because we are not yet over from our past there is still big in balance that the goverment seem like failing to close, we have blacks that stays in shacks and no toilets, water and electricity. So until we all stay in big houses like whites or we all in shacks we will always think of apartheid cos the change is so limited and you still find whites earnning big salary than a black brother or sisiter who is in same position, same start date probably same age, and what do we call that ? deborah losing it-
..3rd Degree should be renamed to "Deborah Patta's Rants". The idea is good, but i think she's losing the plot. If you ask your guest a question, then at least let them answer (even if they crush your point). I admire her courage but, when the interview becomes an attack, then that takes away from all her hardwork. I watch her shows because she talks about interesting topics, however, when she starts abusing her guests, then i switch to Trace and watch some music vidz. Posted on 2 Jun 2010 15:09

MTN Street Vendors charging more than recommended price-
Hi Deborah

I went to the Eastern Cape Lusikisiki visiting my mother during May and June, and was very shocked to discover that some MTN street vendors and shops are charging more than the recommended retail price e.g if you purchase airtime for R5.00 they charge R6.00 and get R5.00 airtime , which means the extra R1.00 goes to them.......I believe this is unethical as when I enquired why they are doing this as this is illegal ,they always complain MTN is not paying them good commission!!!!!!!....this is something they have to sort out with MTN and stop robbing poor people as the rate of unemployment there is very high and people are struggling as is to be paying unnecessary charges..........I have kept proof of the reference number of one of the street vendors.Ref:0085400269(date:21/05/2010 ,time:12h23) and last Ref:0085443398(date:21/05/2010 ,time:15h57)

Is the rainbow nation a myth?-
The 3rd Degree show last night, showed a strange event of a person trying her best to interview herself! Despite S Hofmeyer’s desperate attempts to teach D Patta, that an interviewer asks questions to raise comment from the interviewee, she stubbornly and irritatingly wanted to give her own opinion, literally trying to lay words in Steve’s mouth. She was listening with her mouth, not her ears, because Steve was not saying what she wanted to hear. I, for one was interested in what he was trying to say. There is little DIFFERENCE (politically) between her and Steve, but they differ in that he has woken up and she is still in lala land, as regards the DIFFERENCE between races. Steve was attempting to explain to her that the (AVERAGE) IQ of us Blacks is 85 compared to an Average IQ of 100 for Whites (not using these but other comparisons), and this to be a fact of nature that explains some painful realities; such as our country being run by childlike and bird brained politicians. No amount of repetition, that people are not DIFFERENT will make them the same, but acceptance may. I do not feel inferior because I am black but I am ashamed of what many members of my race do. I am not conscious of being black until some whites come within my circle and I become aware of DIFFERENCE. With such an abundance of variety (difference) in nature, I embrace and not ignore or condemn variety. Discrimination is the word we use when we observe or become aware of difference. (Vivre la difference!)

It is only politicians that try to score votes from race related statements made by other unwary politicians, celebrities, and public persons. When I studied in England, efforts were intentionally made to separated and intersperse us with Whites; we chose to congregate and made places like Soho and Toxteth, our ‘township’. Not in spite of but because of this we had valued White friends.

I have more respect for Winnie Mandela than for Madiba, and admire Malema rather than Zuma (for whom I have none), because they speak their minds whether I agree with them or not. I had more respect for ET and dislike PW Botha (for whom I have none). I admire loyal people. In the interview (interferenceview) last night, my respect goes to SH, boldly and valiantly speaking his mind. We do not need Whites (who have a problem with being White) like DP and Antjie Kroch to fight our battles. Us Blacks are proudly developing and have the right to do so. I believe the Whites have the same right. There are political, economic, and democratic endeavors and wishful thinking to make Whites and Colourds disappear, dissolve, or integrate. (Ethnic cleansing…Steve’s statement) It is their right to associate with other Whites, which vexes DP. How many interviews has 3rd Degree still got to do to “get it” and wake up to reality. Do I believe in separate development? Absolutely! Posted on 30 Mar 2011 15:43

Yesterdays broadcasting was too sensitive and yes we were warned before. I felt so happy that sis Noni was helped by NETCARE. What they did for here was very special for a lady who layed in her bed for 5years. I was so attached, sad and relieved at the same time. May God truly bless those who contributed in her life, financialy, spiritually and physically. I saw how the family was so happy. I must say that sis Noni has a husband that was sent from heaven just for her. These days its hard to find a husband as patient as sis Noni's husband was. Its true what they say 'GOD gives hope to those who believe in him and he never forsakes those who walks with him. All the best to the family at large. Posted on 16 Nov 2011 11:31

Good day,

We had it on good authority hat 3rd Degree is currently preparing a documentary on Metrorail to be aired soon. If true, we as Tshwane Train Sector, together with other comrades elsewhere in Provinces where Metrorail operates, united by the debilitating service that the current Management metes out to the general commuters populace, and having had our own battles with Metrorail Management on issues of appalling poor service and other pertinent issues, has a vested interest in this documentary and believe our Tshwane Train Sector Executive can add value in your 'no-nonsense' discourse show.
We are therefore making ourselves available for the show, with the express intention of presenting the commuters’ view unashamedly and fearlessly so!
