Star Readers' Choice selects SABC 3 as best TV station

In the recent Star Readers' Choice 2012 Awards, announced on Friday, 30 November 2012, readers voted SABC3 as the best TV station. Described as the most watched daytime channel amongst LSM 7-10 viewers, its signature properties Isidingo, Top Billing, Days of Our Lives, Survivor and Amazing Race continuing to dominate the channel's Top Ten.

Said Ed Worster, acting GM of SABC3, "We are delighted to hear how well our content is being received across the country by loyal fans and we will endeavour to remain firmly at the forefront of South African broadcasting in 2013."

New content in 2012 has included 'first to market' international formats, The Voice and The Sing Off; dramas such as The Good Wife, Numbers and The Mentalist; retro dramas, notably MacGyver and Mission Impossible; blue chip documentary in the form of National Geographic and Dr Oz.

The local series, Shoreline, has returned for a second journey around the South African coast and The Ultimate Braaimaster has reportedly outclassed Master Chef as the premium local cooking format.
