Multichoice Malawi has assured subscribers in some parts of the country who were apprehensive that it could dump them the way the pan-African pay-TV satellite service GTV did last year.
A resident of northern region's Mzimba district Vivian Kamanyauli said their area is very dependent on DStv services from Multichoice Malawi but their fear is that it could abandon them.
“We are kept abreast on world events because of the television services that Multichoice provides and since there is no competitor we are afraid that the company might get disappointed with the clientele base and abandon us,” he said.
Multichoice Malawi regional manager for central and northern regions, Titania Katenga Kaunda, however begged to differ.
“What I can assure them is that Multichoice is a pioneer in the pay TV industry and it has a track record that shows that we are going to be there until time in memorial,” she challenged.
“For sure yes there was a pay TV operator [that went under] but remember multichoice has been in operation for over decades but it operates within 48 countries in Africa so it is an assurance that we are stable economically,” she said.
