Let the airwaves resound to World Radio Day
Some of the endeavours include improving international co-operation among radio broadcasters and encouraging decision makers to provide access to information through radio. UNESCO has encouraged all countries to participate in this day by carrying out activities with various partners ranging from national, regional and international broadcasting associations and organisations, non-governmental organisation and the public.
The SABC Radio network reaches 2,561,200 people on a daily basis with its 19 radio stations positioned to serve all South Africans including Channel Africa, an international public service radio station whose role is to contribute to the development agenda of Africa.
"Radio as a medium has the ability to reach different people from all walks of life and across any borders or boundaries especially in this era of a digitised world. Radio has been and will remain the source of information, news and entertainment to many people across the globe. The SABC Radio stations will continue to be at the helm of delivering the quality content that the people of South Africa know it for and will ensure that its listeners are always entertained," says Siphelele Sixaso.
