Sponsorship for Scottish pipers

Chivas Brothers was the chief sponsor for the third consecutive year of the widely acclaimed 100 Pipers Scottish Pipe Band Championships which took place in Levengrove Park, Dumbarton recently.

Tony Schofield, Chivas Brothers’ Financial Director hands over the cheque, and bottle of 100 Pipers, to West Dunbartonshire Council Provost, Denis Agnew.
The Championships, organised by West Dunbartonshire Council, are reputed to be among the most recognised pipe band competitions in the world. This year, Chivas Brothers contributed substantially to this initiative, with it's a contribution of £11 500, the result of which was a significantly raised standard at this year's championships, as well as a greater attendance than in previous years.

David de Mardt, MD of Pernod Ricard South Africa, the drinks giant responsible for marketing Chivas Brothers, commented: “On a recreational note, we are chuffed to continually be afforded the opportunity to sponsor a day which is characterised by enjoyment for the whole family - with fun-fairs, stalls and many other attractions. More significantly, it is an honour for us, in South Africa, to represent Chivas Brothers in this initiative which advocates and promotes the importance of adhering to tradition, heritage and cultural solidarity as this underpins any successful society. We look forward to forging this alliance in future years.”

West Dunbartonshire Council Provost, Denis Agnew, was thrilled when he received the cheque, commenting on how significant the event was in terms of showcasing Dumbarton; and claimed that “this year the 100 Pipers Scottish Pipe Band Championships was arguably the second largest band championships in the world”, and thanked Chivas Brothers for assisting in the growth thereof.
