Nominate your “Boss of the Year 2009”

In today's tough economic climate, leadership qualities are of vital importance, and so is the recognition of those who possess them. The Boss of the Year Award is 20 years old this year, and pays tribute to good workplace leadership practices.

Ornella Trinco of Dictum Publishers, organisers of the award, said: “A key merit of the award lies in the fact that it is the employees who have the power to decide whether a boss is good enough to be entered, not the board of directors or the shareholders, but the very people who daily witness the leadership skills of their boss.

Eunice Maluleke, head of MTN SA Foundation, said: “We need leaders to inspire, support and guide their teams through uncertainty, while remaining calm and focused. We need effective leadership that would drive teams, setting an example, taking accountability, having humility and ultimately taking servant mindset. Such leadership leads to exceptional results.

Anyone who knows of a boss who motivates and makes staff feel important, provides clear goals and direction, and is committed and positive, is encouraged to complete a nomination form.
