Umuzi Photo Club honours four women in August

As South Africa commemorates women's month, Umuzi Photo Club has decided to celebrate it by honouring four women who are dedicated in making a positive change in their society.

Through a series of participatory workshops, its youth activists identified women who have made a positive impact in their communities and produced narrative multimedia pieces that speak to their great contributions. These will be released during the month.

    Selections

    • Caroline Green is from the Butterfly movement. She is a youth facilitator at Barnato Park High School, recognised for her incredible giving spirit and unmoving dedication to the learners of Barnato.
    • Mantshadi Moralo is a Red Cross coordinator in Soweto, recognised as a leader and game changer within her organization and community.
    • Marie Hlaka is from the Kasi to Spotlight programme, well known in Diepsloot for promoting youth talent and using creative art forms to engage the young people.
    • Sherifa Mia Issa is from Islamic Relief South Africa, working with local communities to promote sustainable economic and social development.

The youth activism organisation works in Joburg's under-resourced communities, creating socially aware multimedia and facilitating youth activism, leadership, and engaged citizenry.
