The Citizen Charity Challenge 2014

Issued by: The Citizen | 30 Jun 2014 10:57
The Citizen hosted its Charity Challenge golf day at Randpark Golf Club this year. This annual event on The Citizen's fundraising calendar raises funds for charitable organisations, and this year's beneficiaries were Soweto Home for the Aged and Nazareth House. The Citizen raised a whopping R240,000, which will be equally shared between the beneficiaries.
Says Zarko Jevtic, The Citizen Marketing Manager, "We are grateful to be able to make a difference in the lives of those less fortunate, and thank all our generous sponsors, golfers and supporters who have made this day not only possible, but highly successful."

The Citizen also runs various other smaller fundraising campaigns to aid those in need. One of those was selling tickets for the evergreen musical, The Sound of Music, at a special charity price for 29 May. All the proceeds from these ticket sales (R30,000) went to The Teddy Bear Clinic for Abused Children.

The Citizen will also be running a Winter Warmer campaign in July, collecting blankets, warm clothes and non-perishable food items to bring some winter cheer to those in need.
