New AdVantage AdMAG categories for 2010

The annual AdMAG Awards for consumer magazines, hosted by AdVantage magazine, is now open for entries. An additional Afrikaans/African Language category has been added this year to encourage magazines published either entirely or partially in a language other than English, namely Afrikaans, Zulu, Xhosa, etc, to enter.

“We want to be sure to encourage and reward creativity and excellence in magazine publishing and editing in our other wonderful South African languages as well,” explains AdVantage publisher John Woodford.

Last year AdVantage - now part of the newly formed Business Mags24 stable, a division of Media24 - added a new category: the Innovative Digital Publishing Award to recognise the publisher which has successfully launched an online edition of their magazine. This award is again sponsored by Bizcommunity.com.

Recognises editorial skill

Launched by AdVantage 13 years ago, the awards recognise the editorial skill of the editors in steering their magazine brands to publishing success and have become a sought-after accolade for magazines in the consumer magazine industry in South Africa. The emphasis is on editorial strategy, content, innovation and excellence.

“With the AdMAGS we want focus to be on the editors who are often the driving success behind their publications,” comments AdVantage editor-in-chief, Louise Marsland.

The closing date for entries is 19 March 2010. Entry forms with all the relevant criteria can be downloaded from Bizcommunity.com on www.bizcommunity.com/advantage, from clicking through from the AdMAGS banner on the site; or at https://www.bizcommunity.com/Adavantage_Entry_Form.html.

Judging will take place in April and the awards will be handed out at a ceremony in May.
