New editor for Food & Home Entertaining

Naomi Larkin is the new editor of Food & Home Entertaining, Caxton Magazines announced earlier this week. Larkin has over 18 years' media experience both in South Africa and overseas, including magazines, newspapers and wire service.

Previously editor of Singapore Tatler and Singapore Tatler Best Restaurants guide, Larkin is no stranger to entertaining and good wholesome food. “I am delighted to be heading the team that produces SA's leading magazine for stylish cooking and entertaining, and I am thrilled to take over this magazine and continue the excellent standard produced by Leigh Herringer during her tenure as editor,” Larkin said.

Since moving to SA, she edited Style magazine for nearly three years, and was then editor-at-large of Wanted, Business Day's award-winning monthly lifestyle magazine.

yet another caxton appointment-

not the only guilty party-
There are other media companies who do exactly the same - move the same people around, a case of "better the devil you know" - useless devil or not. So Caxton is definitely no alone in doing this. Posted on 18 Sep 2008 13:18

Naomi is the best person for the job-
Congratulations! Naomi is an awesome journalist and certainly the best person for the job. Oh, and by the way it wasn't an internal promotion because she left Caxton 18 months ago. Let's be honest, the magazine job pool is very small in Jo'burg and there aren't many established magazine journalists worthy of editorships (but obviously plenty of wannabes who whinge when they don't get positions. Are they qualified for them? Do they apply for them? Or do they just whinge because they can?). The position was advertised on BizCommunity, so it's certainly a case of sour grapes by saying it wasn't advertised. So stop whingeing and get real - Naomi's appointment was well deserved! She is brilliant-
Yes Naomi is great and the right person for the job!
But
Caxton don't interview people from other media houses - worthy or not - they just don't. That's a fact and you can't deny it. Maybe other media houses also stick to the devils they know?
