New Vision Pictures to do SAMA spots

New Vision Pictures has successfully pitched for the production of two 30” TV spots for the 2010 MTN South African Music Awards (SAMA) in the same edgy, street style as its local reality-drama series, Cream Cartel.

The production company was praised by ad agency, MetropolitanRepublic, as the perfect fit for the campaign and it has already completed the first SAMA spot, which aired last week and is gearing up to shoot the next one soon.

“We're known for doing things differently and for really pushing the boundaries. We take a totally unconventional approach to filming and editing and I think that's what really sets us apart as a production house,” explains Graeme Swanepoel, New Vision Pictures film director and head of creative.

The studio has produced a second, 13-episode season of the pop cult reality show and commissioned to overhaul and redesign the DSTV channel's popular anti-dating show, Vixens. Both shows are currently in production, with the first episode of the new Vixens airing on 7 April 2010.

The company's core talent includes Hans Sedgwick, 3D animation expert and technical director and Graeme Swanepoel, who both directs and edits. Sedgwick is known for his character animation (which he honed at London's City Scape) and technical abilities, while Swanepoel is known for his artistic vision and direction, which last year included the 2009 FHM Calendar Special shot on location in Reunion.
