Food and beverages income up 10.3% in September

Income in the food and beverages industry grew by 10.3% year on year (y/y) in September‚ data from Statistics SA (Stats SA) on Monday, 19 November, showed.

The main growth came from fast-food outlets (up 15.2% y/y)‚ as well as restaurants and coffee shops (up 10.3% y/y).

Stats SA also noted that income increased by 9.8% y/y in the third quarter. The third quarter increase was driven by takeaway and fast-food outlets (up 16.2% y/y) and restaurants and coffee shops (up 7.7% y/y).
