Afcon shakes up SABC shows

The Africa Cup of Nations matches, which are set to create football mania in Johannesburg from 19 January until 10 February, will also be shaking things up on the TV front.
SABC3 will accommodate four Afcon matches, which are due to necessitate moving the screening of the popular soapie Isidingo to a later 2130 time slot.

SABC1 is expected to be affected the most, with 29 of the tournament's games due to be broadcast on the channel. This is expected to lead to several shows shifting from SABC1 to SABC2, with the normal programming of the SABC2 schedule set to resume at 2100.

Regular SABC1 shows such as Generations and The Bold and the Beautiful will keep their time slots while making the move to SABC2.

Drama series Montana and Zone 14 will also be part of the big move, which is set to happen from 1630 daily, between the two channels.

The Siswati-Ndebele news will now be showing at 1730, while the isiXhosa-isiZulu news will take its original prime time slot to the new channel.

The weekend entertainment line-up has also been affected by the shift, with entertainment variety show Real Goboza showing at 1730 and Friends Like These taking place after that at 1830.
