Gaye Davis resigns over Ramaphosa story

NEWSWATCH: Mail & Guardian reports that IOL political editor Gaye Davis has resigned after a report appeared in the Star to the effect that Cyril Ramaphosa had declined a nomination to be ANC deputy president. He has in fact accepted the nomination.

  • Mail & Guardian: Political editor resigns over Ramaphosa article... She's quoted as saying that she "had no hand in writing the story," but was stepping down to "publicly disassociate" herself from the Star's article.

    "Ethically, I believe I cannot publicly distance myself from the story while remaining in the employ of Independent Newspapers," Davis is reported as saying.
