NEWSWATCH: According to a report in TechCentral, the SABC doesn't want any new kids on the terrestrial TV block until analogue signals are ended, and still at the SABC, it's a case of "Investigation? What investigation?" according to IOL.
For more:
  • TechCentral: Keep rivals away, pleads SABC... To cynics it might seem the national broadcaster is asking, without asking, of course "Please give us a head start so we can tie up the market as much as possible before any other new players are licensed".
  • IOL: Confusion over SABC probe into ICT Indaba contribution... So are SABC CEO Lulama Mokhobo and her chief financial officer, Gugu Duda, being investigated for allegedly making an unauthorised R3m contribution to the ICT Indaba?

According to Thami ka Plaatjie, the deputy chairman of the SABC board, the answer is "No" and that's seconded by SABC spokesman Kaizer Kganyago. However, IOL reports that according to a Communication Workers Union official, the investigation "that isn't" actually "was" and was common knowledge for a while.
