New Easter Festival for Joburg
In the wake of substantial redevelopment of the Nasrec precinct property in anticipation of 2010, Johannesburg Expo Centre is launching the Joburg Easter Festival next year. The event, scheduled over the traditional Easter holiday season next year, will feature dynamic new elements, themes, attractions and exhibits, as well as traditional family favourites, and is anticipated to be the largest and most broadly appealing expo ever staged at Nasrec.
The Nasrec precinct has seen a massive facelift recently with the redevelopment of Soccer City and a new transport hub being constructed to service the borough. The Johannesburg Expo Centre, which will serve as the 2010 global media complex, has also seen substantial investment in facility upgrades.
“The venue is unrivalled in potential,” said Johannesburg Expo Centre CEO Craig Newman on Saturday, 11 October 2008, “and the new Joburg Easter Festival, as the largest event to ever be planned for the property, the perfect vehicle to showcase the lead up to 2010 and beyond.
According to Newman, the Joburg Easter Festival will be the largest event of its kind ever staged in South Africa and is expected to set new benchmarks.
“Entertainment will include a film and arts festival, a massive outdoor cinema, music concerts, sport, a massive children's hall along with hundreds of exhibitors, an international food festival, as well as other traditional family favourites among many others,” said Newman.
