Curb that Oppi envy, Cape Town

Welcome to another tasty Tuesday! This week we bring you the usual buffet of lifestyle news to satisfy any entertainment cravings.

Motoring editor Henrie Geyser reviews the natty little Swift Sport, and eagerly anticipated Toyota 86.

Two zany comedies currently dominate the big screen; Daniel Dercksen reviews blockbuster Madagascar 3, while Duan Wanty, the latest Schuster slapstick Mad Buddies.

For Capetonians with Oppi envy, there is One Night in Cape Town featuring all the big names from the fest at Grandwest in August. Johann M. Smith finds a pleasing growth in sound from Afrikaans band Glaskas with their latest album, "Verganglik en Afhanklik". Fans of Symphonic Rocks will be pleased to note that the musically extravagant event is back and with an interesting mix of artists on the lineup so far.

New tickets up for grabs this week include; Oppikoppi, the official Goodnight Wembley! Launch, and The Plastics at the Brass Bell. Be a winner, enter now!

Swift Sport bares fangs and claws
[Henrie Geyser: motoring editor] Suzuki has given its popular Swift the go-faster, go-cleaner and go-pull-some-looks treatment and have come up a natty little fun to drive version it calls the Swift Sport which is good enough to give the Fiat Abarth, Ford Fiesta, Citroen DS3 and the Renault Twingo a good dice for their money. At last - a Toyota with some excitement
[Henrie Geyser: motoring editor] One of the most eagerly awaited cars and probably the most exciting Toyota to arrive in South Africa for a long time, the new Toyota 86, will go on sale locally early in July - and the good news is that the entry level model will cost a fraction less than R300 000. Cruising the Kruger
[Chris Moerdyk: @chrismoerdyk] I am not a happy camper. Or, any kind of camper. I have never seen the point of leaving a home full of things like comfy beds, dishwashing machines and microwave ovens to attempt to relax on a skinny little back-busting stretcher, waiting for wood to turn to charcoal before being able to cook anything and worst of all, having to do the washing up by hand in cold water. Mad Buddies - yes, another Schuster movie!
[Duan Wanty] If you are a fan, you will love it. If you aren't, you will just simply go on with life and ignore that this film was ever made. Mad Buddies presents slapstick comedy, larger-than-life characters and a straightforward plot, specifically designed for the people who love a good ol' Schuster movie. Read more >>

College Montage Punk
[Johann M. Smith] What distortion and grunge is to Seattle, emotional poppy punk is to Potchefstroom. The student town's latest offering, the fourth album by three-piece-outfit Glaskas, entitled "Verganglik En Afhanklik", patriotically fits the bill. And what can best be described as an ambitious attempt to reach for that all-time pop-punk sound - a delightful injection of youthful energy, undying optimism, and an unobtainable girl - is ultimately imitative, but nonetheless instantly satisfying.
