It's all gone a little Gaga

Recently it seems that South Africa is getting some proper love from international artists; Lady Gaga the latest big name to be announced, courtesy of Big Concerts, shall be hitting our shores, along with support act The Darkness, towards the end of 2012. Now there seems to have been a fair amount of griping amongst those more musically discerned but like it or not Lady Gaga has an extensive fan base in South Africa and the more international artists sent our way, the more shall be sent in the future. So let's respectively welcome them one and all, including wholesome San Diego band Switchfoot and the Swedish indie band Little Dragon who both alight on South African soil for the first time this August.

Henrie Geyser wracks up his motoring editor mileage with reviews on the royal Mercedes-Benz M-Class, classy Citroen C4, and the highly praised new CX-5 from Mazda.

While cultural contributor extraordinaire; Eugene Yiga gives us the low-down on a few of the current theatre productions on circuit, Pieter-Dirk Uys's satirical Adapt or Fly, as well as the equally politically inspired Green Man Flashing, and the downright silly Topsy Turvy are all recommended.

New competitions this week include tickets to the Durban July After Party and Hello Techno at the Assembly this Friday, #winning!

Here's to being thoroughly entertained!

Citroen's classy SUV contender
[Henrie Geyser: motoring editor] Like many other carmakers Citroen has now also waltzed on to the rapidly growing SUV market enticed by the sweet tunes of the Jewish Harp and confident that its new three-model Aircross range is sexy enough to lure SUV-addicted South Africans away from the brands that dominate this lucrative market segment. New life for old music in Topsy Turvy
[Eugene Yiga] I didn't know what to expect. Gilbert and Sullivan? I'd heard the names before and I knew they had something to do with music. More than that, I honestly couldn't say. Fortunately for me, Topsy Turvy was here to educate my clueless mind. And judging by what I experienced, I suggest you let it educate you too. Read more >>

Tough moral questions in Green Man Flashing
