And the award goes to...

The entertainment industry has never lacked in self-congratulation; awards, red carpets and fanfare have always been popular pastimes amongst creative drama types. Joining the party, we bring you the announcement of the winners of the 2012 MK Awards and the Eat In Produce Awards, satisfying both your ear drums and taste buds. Congratulations to all the deserving nominees and winners. Next up, the SAMA's!

Brian Berkman brings us the next installment in his 10 Things I Love About... series. This week sees actor Paul du Toit listing 10 things about the Dusi he feels particularly affectionate toward.

Joburg and Cape Town will be welcoming New York indie band; Clap Your Hands Say Yeah to our stages mid-April. In other music news, Justin Williams interviews dream-hop duo Christian Tiger School, and Farah Barry reviews the Louise Day, aKing and Just Jinjer show at Trinity.

Turning to things theatrical, Johann Smith is laudatory of the Zabalaza Theatre Festival now playing at the Baxter Theatre, while Eugene Yiga is full of praise for The Quartet playing at Theatre on the Bay. We have some tickets to give away to the show on Thursday, 29 March; enter here.

MK Award winners announced
[Duan Wanty] The 6th Annual Mk Awards took place on the 23rd of March 2012 and it was rocking! The best of the best gathered at the State Theatre in Pretoria to honour some of our hottest local talent. Every year the MK Awards gets better and better, and this year was the best by far. Masekela takes on Kirstenbosch - like a Boss!
[Sindy Peters] Celebrating the last Sunday of March 2012 at a mass gathering fronted by Hugh Masekela turned out to be an excellent choice. Considering this was the jazz maestro's first appearance as part of the Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concert line-up, it was well worth the wait! Not knowing their name and not knowing that it was their first gig, I remember hearing a genre I could not define. [Johann Smith] After accepting an award for Best New Theatre at the recent Fleur de Cap, Lara Foot delivered this immortal statement: "I appreciate this acknowledgment.
