Nando's ‘Julius' ad ruffles ANCYL feathers

This is the Nando's TV ad which upset the ANC Youth League. They demanded it be withdrawn, labelling it 'racist' and threatened to 'mobilise the people' to take 'militant' action against the food retail chain. The league's statement said the video 'portrays political leaders as Cartoons [sic].'

Well done Nando's - A Brand with big brass onesPosted on 21 Apr 2009 15:11
this crap has got to stop in the interests of building brands and respecting all peoples in SA [Video]
the latest ad is a clear indication of the state of the nation.
firstly, a liberal white consciousness generating humour out of racial archetypes.
secondly, that such a pitiful exercise is put forward and bought by a client says something about the makers of ad and questions if they should be doing what they do - let alone the client who bought this self indulgent nonesense.Posted on 21 Apr 2009 16:23
It's just an ad & the fact that it ruffled your feathers & sent me off to buy a burger meant it work [Video]
This person obviously dose not have a sense of humor. The whole point of an ads is to get noticed and spoken about. All celebrities will tell you the only thing worse the bad or slanderous publicity is no publicity. Politicians all around the world get victimized by the public and if thier only response is to "mobilise the people of South Africa to take militant action against Nando's and anything associated with Nando's." well then they shouldn't be politicians.Posted on 30 Apr 2009 08:36

call a national boycott of Nandos chicken [Video]
humour is one thing but the sub-text of this commercial is such poor taste that Nandos ought to be taught a lesson for buying or indulging such crap from their ad agency - jislaaik!Posted on 21 Apr 2009 16:27
Miss Kontroversial
how ironic [Video]
Julius always has some googy comment to 'voice out' in his regular public stunts moments and when the media portrays him with a bit of intelligence his "guinea pigs" act all sensitive... argh please!Posted on 23 Apr 2009 04:10

Oh come on Nandos!!!! [Video]
Nandos is a brand loved by all South African's.......I wonder who their employees voted for????Posted on 23 Apr 2009 09:38

Nando's does not worry about who feathers are ruffled! Great on you [Video]
In the modern day South Africa all business's, companies and outlets go to great lengths to satisfy the 'majority masters' who demand political correctness in everything the companies do, failing which the consequences could result in those companies going out of business due to drop in demand for their products. Nando's however have not bowed to this pressure and used satire to it's best whenever a situation arises. The reason is simple, they do not need the support of the majority to keep people or government from loving their product. That is why I will always support Nando's!!
Go Nando's Go!!Posted on 28 Apr 2009 16:47

No lies [Video]
The ad is great but what I really like about it is that it portrays truth. It makes a stupid man look....well...stupid. No lies here, well done.Posted on 28 Apr 2009 19:10

Let Nandos make one about Helen Zille looking for a female MP [Video]
Since it is based on 'news worthy' and 'off public interest' lets see Nandos make a Hellen Zille puppet looking for the female MP candidate and not finding 'one capable to serve' in her cabinet!

White South Africa needs to understand why people react the way they DO-First most of us don't trust that you have 'human respect' for black people, secondly, everytime you ridicule someone who speaks for a certain number of constituency(people) understand that you are attacking that constituancy.

I find it stupid for poeple to expect us to have the same views as them when they, after 94, built gates in their residential areas to keep us out, now we identify ourselves in checkpoints like we we in Palestine or something!!!!!Posted on 23 May 2009 12:32
