Young writers from South Africa and all other SADC countries are once again invited to submit original unpublished short stories for the third volume of the annual HSBC/SA Pen Literary Award by 31 July 2006. Three prizes will be awarded by HSCB Bank - US$5000, US$3000 and US$2000 - with Nobel Laureate JM Coetzee as judge. The best entries selected by the editorial board will be published in a book next year, New Writing from Southern Africa - 2007. Detailed rules and conditions for submission are available at www.newafricabooks.co.za. The competition is run by SA Pen in partnership with HSBC Bank and New Africa Books.
