In order to learn the basics of the media profession I enrolled at the University of Cape Town for a degree in Media and Writing. To improve my writing skills I was a regular contributor on a citizen journalism website called www.reporter.co.za. I possess proofreading and editing skills as I am an avid reader who can spot spelling mistakes. To stay informed about the developments in the media industry read websites like www.bizcommunity.com,www.marketingweb.co.za and www.mediabytes.co.za, and various newspapers. This enables me to stay informed about the latest trends and technological developments in the media industry. I have a basic understanding of MS Office, internet and e-mail.

I am passionate about working in a media environment. I am not afraid of hard work as I prefer to start at the bottom in order to learn in the continuously changing media environment. I feel that this is vital as I feel that learning does not stop and one needs to upgrade their skills every now and then in order to be abreast with any technological changes that are taking place.

Exposing myself to various extra mural activities in my community as well as at the University of Cape Town made it possible for me to develop oral and communication skills that are necessary for me to communicate effectively.
