Schooled at SACS, then from grade 9-12 at Cape Town High School.
Studied for a B Sc. Chem. Engineering at UCT (University of Cape Town). Dropped out to pursue a career in the art field. Self-trained on the job and through lots of reading for photography, which eventually became my career forte.
Over the years worked at various ad agencies initially in the art studio, then fee lance photography and at one stage taking over as production director. Set up new studio for design and photography at Hirt and Carter a repro house. Won the first outdoor media award for my fully covered bus for Gauloises cigarettes.
Later became the Cape representative on the Print Technical Committee of South Africa.. Was also the chairman of the Cape division of the Professional Photographer of South Africa.
