I have worked in many countries, on many categories of business, but still don't pretend to know all there is to know about this business. I learn something new every day.

We whites have got to start learning to toi-toi and make our feelings know.

We sit and tut tut, but our friends at the other end of the economic spectrum have no other option but to show their unhappiness. No amount of emails and twitting, blogging etc is going to make the point that good demonstration does. I agree Chris, let's start doing something instead of complaining.

Where are we, in darkest Africa, or modern South Africa? If the market is rural South Africans, do they have access to TV? I have to say that I think this is a waste of time and effort by the advertiser.

Having worked on advertising across the Continent over the last 6 or 7 years, I would be embarrassed to show this sort of work. The rural market are a lot more sophisticated than this!

Chrsi

This presumes that we all believe that Reality TV etc is good, Frankly, I don't give a damn about Paris Hilton, Kim Kardashian (whatever the silly big boobed tarts' name is).

Lets get back to some reality and stop making these insignificant clowns into heros, because they very simply are not!

If it had been produced by the ANC it would have been perfectly alright wouldn't it.

What about those bloody irritating unsolicited phone calls at the most inappropriate times, asking you about buying more insurance, a better cell phone contract, a better anything? Where do they get our numbers from and how do we put a stop to their annoying calls, other than asking the person at the end of the line for their number so that you can call them at 4 in the morning, so that you can irritate them!

Can someone please tell me, so I can get my name removed, otherwise, the next poor caller is going to feel the sharp and ugly part of my tongue!

Very seldom does going in house produce good work. Time will tell, but as Herman says, the fall out as a result of the global economy, is going to see some big changes coming in the way advertisers work going forward. Look at the budgets for TV commercials these days, gone are the R2.5 million budgets - the average seems to be around R600 000. We are all going to have to think very differently in future. Creativity will be about making things look bigger and better for less.

I am sorry for those people hurt just before Christmas. It isn't easy out there at the best of times. Surely somebody at Jupiter should have been aware that the contract was coming up for renewal, and should have been asking questions. The agency needs to take some of the blame and make sure that there as as soft landings as possible, for once.

This commercials looks, feels and sounds like it was made 20 years ago.

It is so unbelievably off, that it is just not worth the time that has been wasted on making and airing it. And I used to love Southern Comfort - 20 years ago.

At last, a bottled water commercial that isn't trying to lie to me that it is 'from a source of pure water' the 'spring of eternal purity' etc.

We all know that the majority of these bottled waters come out of a filtered tap, so start treating us as intelligent human being and we will start considering your products.
I really like the idea of 'Start thinking about tomorrow' - well done for not succumbing to the old song too!

Marginally better than the utter crap that launched 8ta. I gather that they are doing well despite the appalling advertising. A good offer will always win out.

Who is responsible for this utter crap? I would be very embarrassed.
