Tian Nel
I am currently an Accounts Manager at Phoenix Rising Media, specializing in product placement in South African films, with a passion for writing, -the cinematic art of storytelling, -brand awareness and marketing.
Show profile Hide profileI am 26 years old and a graduate from AFDA (African Film and Drama Academy) Cape Town where I qualified with a Bachelor's in Motion Picture Medium, specializing in Script Writing and Directing, also receiving The Director's List Award for outstanding academic achievement. I have made several short films and co-directed two music videos for Wrestlerish. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nem8pXekJoE)
Over and above learning about the practical processes of film making, the course also teaches the principles of creative conceptualising, marketing, writing treatments and the art of pitching. Unlike most I enjoy public speaking and consider myself to be an excellent communicator. I also possess strong leadership qualities and believe that the creative process is first and foremost a collaborative one: every team member's ideas should be regarded as equal, discussed and considered with objectivity and compassion. In short I believe I am equipped with all the necessary qualities to make a substantial contribution to any creative team.
I love the construct of storytelling and am supremely passionate in this regard. This is demonstrated by the fact that my final AFDA production, "Blinde Kleure" was one of only four nominees for best film of the year.
I believe that every brand/ marketing campaign is trying to tell its own unique story and it has been a privilege to be involved in this wonderfully creative process:
For the past year I have been working as an Accounts Manager for Phoenix Rising Media, South Africa's leading product placement agency. Here my duties included, but were not limited to, identifying prospective clients from feature length scripts and shaping the specific placement opportunities alongside with the film's producers to accommodate the client's marketing objectives. This also included the conceptual development of activations linked to the specific production.
Please find attached my Curriculum Vitae which explains my qualifications and experience in detail. Unlike other graduates I have some work experience, including a year in London, Scotland and Wales, which has given me rare and valuable life experience.
