EWN brings news stories to WhatsApp
EWN is using the broadcast list functionality on WhatsApp to send out the EWN morning brief and the EWN round-up of the day's stories in the afternoon to a database of subscribers.
The broadcast list allows subscribers to engage with EWN, but does not reveal the identity of any other members of the list.
WhatsApp is the biggest social messaging tool in South Africa - with figures suggesting 86% of smartphones have the app loaded to them, and recent research released by World Wide Worx SA suggested that 10.6 million South Africans use the app.
