Communications at the forefront - 14 Nov 2016

By Leigh Andrews

In her weekly Loeries feature, Leigh Andrews spoke to Y&R about their Loeries rankings. They won in nine categories and had an impressive all round haul from the Awards. CCO Graham Lang and creative director Nkanyezi Masango share how they feel about all their wins.

Then, Beverley Klein attended the IABC Africa Conference recently which took place at the Vineyard Hotel. Top speakers in the PR and communications realm shared their thoughts about the future of public relations and how it's time to think outside the communications box.

In this day and age of social media and online networking, we often forget the importance of networking at events. Dominique Pienaar says that networking events enable the exchange of ideas, learnings, successes and best practice for marketers to apply in 2017.

And finally, Mike Saunders writes up on what Late Show host Conan O'Brien can teach us from a marketing viewpoint. He managed to reinvent himself through his NBC fall out, and has successfully used online marketing to rebuild his career.

Lots of reading this week and more to come. Here's to an insightful and successful week ahead.
