Entries for Filminute - the international one-minute film festival that challenges filmmakers, writers, animators, artists, designers, and creative producers to develop and submit the world's best one-minute films - close on 20 August 2011.

This year's international jury, to be announced shortly, will award the Best Filminute and five commendations and audiences worldwide will rate the films and vote for the People's Choice.

In 2010, a South African film directed by Bauke Brouwer, made it into the shortlist of films viewed around the world and the organisers are hoping for more such entries from South African filmmakers.

According to Filminute executive director John Ketchum, Brouwer has been very active on the Filminute Facebook page, promoting his new film which he will shoot next week. His use of social media to develop buzz and interest in his new film is a model for others to follow. Given the impact of his 2010 film, 'Gumboots', on audiences worldwide, the selection committee at Filminute is excited to review his latest film.
