    Cartoon Network launches app

Cartoon Network has launched its first micro-network application built exclusively for phone and tablet small screens. The Cartoon Network Anything app, available free across Africa, contains exclusive content allowing fans to engage with their favourite shows and characters in a whole new world on their portable mobile platforms, rapidly delivering entertainment in a unique and fun way – an innovation that has not been seen before on the continent.

The app is home to an ever-growing and ever-changing stream of micro-content consisting of games, activities, trivia quizzes and interactive video games, lasting 10 to 15 seconds.

“This is unlike anything we’ve ever designed,” says Pierre Branco, VP and GM of Southern Europe and Africa for Turner Africa. “Who are not attached to their mobile devices nowadays? This app is a whole new way to engage with our audience in Africa, constantly maintaining a high level of suspense about ‘what will come next?’”

Africa has emerged as one of the fastest growing markets for mobile phones in the world with 85% of South Africa’s population, estimated to be close to 55 million, now spending on average 2.98 hours a day on their mobile phones.

“The app is the next step in the network’s mobile expansion, with a platform-specific strategy that provides content unseen anywhere else in the marketplace,” concludes Branco.
