In celebration of World Radio Day, UNESCO, in partnership with National Community Radio Forum (NCRF), is hosting a two-day capacity building training on integrating ICT's in radio broadcasting on 13 and 14 February 2013 in Johannesburg.
The training will be offered to 38 community radio personnel. Later on today, the Minister of Communications, Dina Pule, is envisaged to open a gala dinner celebration as part of the World Radio Day and the Chairperson of the NCRF will officially launch the celebration calendar of 20 years of the NCRF.

18 community radio stations across the country will take part by airing clips that would have been recorded from the community on "what the radio means to our everyday lives" including joint message of the UNESCO DG and the UN SG.

World Radio Day is one of the United Nations observance days as proposed by UNESCO and endorsed by the 67th UN General Assembly to be marked on the 13 February every year.
