The South African Traditional Music Achievement (SATMA) Awards winners for 2012 have been announced. The Awards were launched in 2005 to promote, preserve, uplift, develop, stage multicultural exchanges, honour and award traditional musicians across racial and ethnic background.
From the inaugural SATMA Awards 2006 to the sixtth anniversary SATMA Awards 2011 hosted in Kwa-Zulu Natal (Durban ICC), the SATMA Awards have made a contribution in the cultural landscape of South Africa through nation building, social cohesion and implementing the above mentioned objectives.
The seventh Annual SATMA Awards 2012 were hosted in the Eastern Cape Province (East London) on 27 October 2012 and here are the winners.
