Jerome Touze, co-founder and CEO of WAYN (Where Are You Now?), a travel and lifestyle social networking community website, will address delegates at next month's Getaway Travel and Tourism Conference. WAYN has more than 20 million members and is present in 193 countries. He will share his insights on how connecting with audiences can grow business.
He joins Thulani Nzima, CEO of South African Tourism and other presenters who will explore survival strategies for the industry at the Coca Cola Dome on 30 August 2012. Other speakers include William Price, global manager: e-marketing - SA Tourism; Dave Duarte, social media expert and principal of the Ogilvy Marketing Academy; Richard Lord, associate media director at MediaShop and Willie Jooste, multi-task manager at website design company Think Tank.
Themed 'Show me the Money!', the conference, sponsored by Mercedes-Benz Vans, will focus on equipping delegates with practical tools to "turn slow in dough" by maximising marketing efforts to increase revenue, occupancy and tour seats, explains Getaway events manager, Tracy-Lee Behr.
Challenges and opportunities
On the agenda will be discussions on challenges and opportunities facing the tourism sector, the effective use of using social media, innovative marketing and capitalising on new developments such as voluntourism, adventure travel and eco-tourism.
This year the conference targets SMMEs in the greater travel and tourism sector and will be particularly valuable to B&B and lodge owners, travel agents, tour operators, rangers and other similar operators, adds Behr.
The conference takes place alongside the Gauteng Getaway Show, which runs from 31 August - 2 September at the Dome in North Riding.
