Elle copy editor wins Novo Nordisk Media Prize
The print category of the Novo Nordisk Media Prize, awarded annually for excellence in writing on diabetes, has been awarded to Erla Rabe, copy editor at Elle magazine, for her feature, 'Bitter Sweet', which appeared in the November 2011 issue of Elle. It was unanimously chosen as the winner by judges Professor Frederick Raal, Yusuf Abramjee and Natalia Thompson.
The award confirms the magazine's commitment to empowering readers in all areas of their lives, including health and well-being, says editor, Jackie Burger. "Rabe isn't just an outstanding journalist and writer; she is genuinely committed to telling life-changing truths about diabetes. She deserves this recognition."
Rabe, who was diagnosed with type-1 diabetes three years ago, receives a cash prize of R10 000 and a trip abroad.
