New magazine up and running

In the first week of December 2011, a new 100-page magazine devote to trail running, titled Trail, will be launched in South Africa. This is in response to the growing interest in the sport; reportedly, 7000 people participate in a national series hosted by just one trail organiser.

Published by multisport magazine, Go Multi, which just released its 50th issue, the launch issue of Trail will present training tips, event previews, race reviews and equipment features. It includes a 16-page, Trail Shoe Guide for 2012. The team includes: Deon Braun (winner of 2011 Himalayan 100 Mile Stage Race) as publisher, Hugh Pines as editor and Cobus Botha as art director.

Events featured in photo-essays include the Hi-Tec Otter African Trail Run, the 80km Royal Raid in Mauritius, the Himalayan 100 Mile Stage Race and the Salomon Skyrun.

Guest writers include desert and stage running king, Ryan Sandes, lifestyle coach Chantel Nienaber and tech spy Leo Rust, who reveals the latest trends from the Outdoor Show in Friedrichshafen, Germany. Photographic contributors include Jacques Marais, Kelvin Trautman, Craig Kolesky and Owen Middleton.
