New women's magazine from Media24

10 Jul 2014 11:34
Media24 is launching a new fortnightly women's magazine, aimed at English-speaking, middle-class South African women between the ages of 35 and 45.
The new title, 'mine', will be edited by Kay Karriem, who turned Kuier magazine into one of the top-selling magazines in South Africa.

Coming out on 1 August 2014, it will be easy to read and realistic on every level, featuring real people on the cover and real people as the fashion models - no hard-to-relate-to skinny celebs.

"At R12.50, and on shelf every second week, its real value for money and proves you don't have to break the bank to be treated like a queen," says Karriem. "It is a true reflection of readers' lives and their reality. We are committed to our mission to empower real women, which is why you will only see real women on the cover."

All decent journos should consider boycotting this publication on the basis of their poor per word rate. Shocking. No wonder so many magazines are going downhill.

Original Copy
They should be boycotted. They are offering to pay professional writers R1.20 per word which is less than half the accepted rate. But will gather advertising and charge R12.50 for the mag. Nice one Media24 - supporting professional writers in your usual way.
