LONDON: Draftfcb South Africa's Glynn Venter will be a member of this year's Direct Lions jury, while Joey Pastoll of Cross Colours will be on the Promo Lions panel, the organisers of the 55th Cannes Lions International Advertising Festival announced yesterday, Wednesday, 9 April 2008.
The Direct Lions jury – the largest jury in Cannes with 31 members– will be chaired by Marcio Salem, president and creative director of Salem in São Paulo, Brazil. Armin Jochum, chief creative officer of BBDO Stuttgart and Berlin, Germany, will lead the Promo jury. Judging of all entries will take place in the Palais des Festivals in Cannes during the Festival week, with the winners of both categories being revealed on Monday 16 June.
“We have two great groups of skilled professionals, who as well as judging the creativity of the work, will also take into consideration the strategy, execution and results of the entries in these categories”, said Philip Thomas, festival CEO.

Launched in 2002 and 2006 respectively, Direct Lions and Promo Lions have seen a steady increase of entries over the years with participation from around the globe.
