The competition forms part of the Exclusive Books Fanatics 10th anniversary celebrations this year, celebrating the success of the loyalty programme, which has over 600 000 members.

“Books are a key to creativity and innovation, and we would like our new plastic bag design to reflect this relationship. In fact, many people in creative industries spend time browsing at Exclusive Books as an invaluable part of their research and brainstorming process - the competition gives us the opportunity to interact with that creative energy and to make Exclusive Books a platform to showcase the cutting edge of South Africa's young design talent.”

The competition is open to all design students across South Africa and the closing date for the competition is 30 May 2008. Ten finalists will be announced on 11 June and the winner will be announced on 10 July. Each finalist will receive Exclusive Books gift vouchers to the value of R1000 and the grand prize is an Apple Mac iBook, merchandise to the value of R20 000 and Exclusive Books gift vouchers to the value of R5000.

“Our shopping bag has an iconic status. It has been used and seen all over the world in many different hands. In keeping with Exclusive Books' mission, we strive to remain at the cutting edge of producing creative, innovative and thought-provoking ways of marketing our brand and this competition is one of the ways we want to achieve this,” comments Green-Bricker.
