Jupiter soars with Black Eagle

For only the sixth time in its 13-year history, the Black Eagle was awarded to The Jupiter Drawing Room at last week's Eagle Print Awards. Sponsored by Independent Newspapers, the Eagles reward the most creative print media seen in South Africa over the past year.

The Jupiter Drawing Room won for four of its CNA campaigns, entitled ‘Famous People', described by the judges as “fresh and original, not to mention beautifully rendered, in a seemingly effortless construction that it captured attention instantaneously.”

The two international judges, Tony Hardcastle and Richard Dennison of Abbot, Mead Vickers BBDO, said the standard was remarkably high across the board, with some very impressive entries - some that they felt raised the bar entirely.

In picking up the Black Eagle in 2009, The Jupiter Drawing Room (South
Africa) has won its 3rd Black Eagle trophy. (The Jupiter Drawing Room (Cape Town) won for Design Indaba in 2005 and The Jupiter Drawing Room (Johannesburg) for Nike in 2001.) The agency remains the only one to have won the Black Eagle on more than one occasion.

The Eagles is one of the only two local creative awards endorsed by the SA Creative Circle (the other is the Loeries).

The awards took place on Wednesday, 28 October 2009, at the Alexander Theatre in Braamfontein, Johannesburg.
