In top news this week, Australia's Gary Mortimer and Louise Grimmer look at how some retailers are moving away from price-based marketing to a focus on other attributes, such as sustainability, local produce and community. And Coke bottler Coca-Cola Beverages SA has committed to divert R3.9 billion in procurement spend, or 30% of the total, to black-owned and black women-owned organisations over the next three years.

Switching focus to online fashion retail, Spree's Vincent Hoogduijn outlines his top reasons why online shopping's share of total retail sales in South Africa will increase exponentially over the next three years. And Zando has launched zero-rated shopping for Vodacom subscribers, meaning that Vodacom users can browse and transact on the retailer's mobile app and mobile website and no longer pay for data usage.

As the listeriosis saga continues to unfold, Rainbow Chicken polony has been cleared of the deadly ST6 strain that caused 91% of cases.

Last but not least, a hearty congrats to proudly South African whisky brand Bain's Cape Mountain Whisky which has been awarded the title of World's Best Grain Whisky and founder distiller, Andy Watts, awarded the title as the global Icon of Whisky Master Distiller/Master Blender for 2018.

Here's to an inspiring week!
