
The Loerie Awards has introduced a PR category to this year's awards. Public Relations Industry of Southern Africa (PRISA) spokesperson Bridget von Holdt believes the move is indicative of the importance of strategic communication in the overall communication mix and that the inclusion of PR exposes other industries to the real value of strategic communication and its vital role in brand management.

Tickets for The 33rd Annual Loerie Awards are on sale as of 12pm today, Monday, 18 April 2011. The festival weekend, hosted in Cape Town, will take place from 16-18 September. Tickets can be booked on the Loeries website via the new electronic booking system.

In line with international festivals, the 33rd Annual
Loerie Awards have upscaled and this year the festival weekend, 16-18 September 2011, features black tie affairs, with red carpet, at its new venue, the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC). Tickets to the awards ceremonies are limited to 1500 per night and an additional 1000 tickets will be available for the Official Party.

SINGAPORE: BuzzCity, the global mobile media company, on 6 July 2010 released the results of its Global Mobile Advertising Index for Q2 2010, with South Africa in fourth place, sporting an impressive 65% increase in ad banners served, while Kenya reported a massive 243% increase for the period. The Kenya growth, while impressive was the third largest growth percentage after Vietnam, which reported a 273% increase. Meanwhile Ghana showed a massive 654% growth rate, although it was off a low base.
