Services SETA and Proudly SA announce Three Star Grading System

The Services SETA and Proudly South Africa have launched a unique grading system for companies, namely, The 3 STAR Grading System.

The 3 STAR Grading System will seek to recognise companies in the following:
1. Does your company comply with the Employment Equity Act, the Skills Development Act, and any other legislation that directs your relationship with your staff - your most important asset?
2. Does your company have systems in place that are designed to manage all resources effectively and are these systems are achieving their purpose?
3. Does your company focus on its clients and customers service?

Says Ivor Blumenthal, CEO of the Services SETA: "This is very exciting for the Services SETA to be involved in. We are proud that Proudly SA is associated with this project. Irrespective of the size of your business, your staff is encouraged to achieve their personal and collective continuous development objectives - this in turn will lead to them becoming more client and customer conscious".

The advantages of this scheme are numerous. The most obvious of which is that it will send out important messages about your business. It recognises that good governance is the culture of the organisation.

The outcomes of becoming a 3 STAR company will be evident in the improved work performance of its employees, an improved return on investment stemming from the implementation of world class standards in business systems and processes and a calibre of excellence in customer service that is highly competitive locally as well as globally.

The one major incentive of the grading system is the Proudly South African membership that companies are rewarded with once they have full 3 STAR grading status. 3 STAR companies will then be able to utilize the Proudly South Africa logo.

"We envisage that by managing this grading system we will not only assist companies in monitoring their progress but also create a spirit of competitiveness that will encourage South African companies to strive to be the best", concludes Blumenthal.

The Services Seta was established in March 2000 as a result of the Skills Development Act. Its role is to ensure that the skills needs of the services sector are identified, provided for, assessed and the skilled people are certified as competent.
