IOL: New minister meets SABC board... Given the widely held reputation the national broadcaster "enjoys" among many of us compelled to pay a licence fee for a service we watch as little as possible, if at all, Yunus Carrim seems to have his work cut out for him.
He seems to have a reputation for "getting things done", however, so here's hoping he can turn what many reckon is little more than a bit of a circus into a reputable national broadcaster.
Naturally, that will entail some tough decisions, and equally tough action.
We're all watching.
Mail & Guardian: 1st TV to the rescue after Zim loses SABC signal... Still on the SABC, after a fashion, Zimbabweans north of the border lost their SABC signal, but 1st TV has come to the rescue with what it says it aims to be, that is "an independent voice to Zimbabwe's almost entirely state-owned broadcasting sector."
The new service aims to "go live" on Friday, 19 July, and according to the Mail & Guardian report, will be available on the Wiztech free-to-air decoders.
