Getaway turns 21

Getaway magazine celebrates its 21st birthday with bottles of bubbly to advertisers and other stakeholders and R200 000 in giveaways for readers. Among these are competitions to win bush breaks, multi-tools, vouchers, gear and books, while subscribers stand to win a R30 000 stay for two at the up-market Tenahead Mountain Lodge.

"When Getaway was launched 21 years ago, it set the standard for travel writing and photography that remains a benchmark today," commented publisher Jacqueline Lahoud. "Our birthday issue remains true to that standard, with a striking black and gold cover signalling the celebratory nature of this special edition and contents that put particular emphasis on the stunning photography, while still providing relevant information on each park." The April issue showcases the top 21 wildlife destinations in Southern Africa.

The birthday issue will be promoted in print and online across all Getaway's platforms and those of its sister titles, on other travel websites, through regional radio spots and in-store at airports and Exclusive Books. An increased print order and sales to the game parks will ensure it reaches a broad audience of travel and wildlife enthusiasts. It goes on sale on 23 March 2010.
