Thumbs up from Sandton stakeholders

Sandton magazine has secured crucial endorsement from key Sandton stakeholders, including the Sandton Tourism Association (STA) and the Sandton Central Management District. A recent presentation by Sandton publisher Tony Vaughan and editor Josef Talotta to the board of the STA resulted in a number of Sandton hotels requesting copies for distribution.

The hotels include the Hilton, Sandton Sun and City Lodge Katherine Street.

Tony Vaughan, MD of Media Nova, publishers of Sandton, says, “These endorsements, and the partnerships that flow from them, represent a key step in the development of Sandton and sum up the very essence of successful publishing. No longer is publishing about simple advertising transactions; it's about strategic, long-term relationships that create real value for advertisers and readers alike.”

Comments STA spokesperson Laura Vercueil, “It's so appropriate that SA's first city-based magazine title is showcasing one of the continent's most vibrant and dynamic communities. The launch of Sandton magazine will contribute enormously to positioning the area as one of the most exciting places to visit and conduct business internationally. As promoters of Sandton and the greater Gauteng area, we at Sandton Tourism Association couldn't be more thrilled.”

“Compliment the work”

Cara Reilly, marketing manager of the Sandton Central Management District, says, “Sandton magazine will compliment the work being done by the management district to develop Sandton Central and, by association, the greater Sandton area into a place that excites, drawing people in and encouraging them to stay on.”

Sandton magazine is edited by Josef Talotta, heading a team that includes Kerry Phillips (associate editor), Michelle Loewenstein (writer), and Gareth Jacobs (photographer).

Launching in May 2008, Sandton magazine will cater to the needs of the district's top-end residential, tourist and business communities that drive the economic, social and retail pulse-point of the African continent. Sandton will have an initial print run of 30 000, including 15 000 copies hand-delivered to Sandton's finest homes and apartments, with another 7500 distributed to Sandton hotel rooms, services and businesses, with the balance sold nationally at select retail outlets.
