Women of the Year national finalists

The public can begin voting for the finalist in each of the five categories of the 2011 Shoprite Checkers Women of the Year Award, which were announced today, Wednesday 13 July 2011. This vote will account for 30% of the final score, although the judges' decision will be final.

Finalists:


  • Socio-Economic Business Developers - Phumzile Sihlangu, Shona McDonald and Juliet Newton
  • Good Neighbours Against Crime - Tarisai Mchuchu-Ratshidi, Lucinda Collette Evans and Dr Nobulembu Babalwa Mwanda
  • Educators - Dr Tina Cowley, Ednah Zulu and Prof Phindile Lukhele-Olorunju
  • Youth Movers - Rev Karen Tewson, Joy Olivier and Rosalia Mashale
  • Health Caregivers - Nomasango Xabanisa, Sister Ethel Normoyle and Dr Elmi Muller

The award culminates in a gala evening this month at Emperors Palace in Gauteng to announce the winners. This event will be broadcast during prime time on Monday 8 August 2011 on M-Net and re-broadcast on Women's Day 9 August 2011. For more information, go to www.sawoman.co.za.
