Special sections | Accommodation industry income up 13.8%Total income for the accommodation industry for the fourth quarter of 2011 increased by 13.8% compared with the fourth quarter of 2010, figures released today, 20 February, by Statistics South Africa showed. Total income for the accommodation industry for the fourth quarter of 2011 increased by 13.8% compared with the fourth quarter of 2010, figures released on Monday by Statistics South Africa showed. Total income for the accommodation industry in December 2011 increased by 15.8% compared with December 2010. Income from accommodation for the fourth quarter of 2011 increased by 14.8% compared with the fourth quarter of 2010. This increase was due to an increase of 10.8% in the number of stay unit nights sold and an increase of 3.6% in the average income per stay unit night sold. Income from accommodation in December 2011 increased by 18.8% compared with December 2010. The number of stay units available for the fourth quarter of 2011 decreased by 0.5% compared with the fourth quarter of 2010. The number of stay units available in December 2011 increased by 0.5% compared with December 2010. The number of stay unit nights sold for the fourth quarter of 2011 increased by 10.8% compared with the fourth quarter of 2010. The number of stay unit nights sold in December 2011 increased by 12.5% compared with December 2010.
